We have had 4-5 deliveries from LANL and they have given us tons of H gear for the B53, 43, 57, 61 and misc. stuff for various warheads. All of this will need to be sorted out and some sets arranged for various systems so we can lend them out to the museums.
LANL brought us 5 BOARS (MK7s), only one tail though. Over 10 B43's and B57s along with associated Noses, Tail and Shape components were sent. They also brought us several assorted containers for RV/RBs and the W69. We also got some parachutes too.
The Air Force delivered all the B53 Trainer Shape (SC) components and Trainer BA53 Type 3As stored at Nellis AFB. We have 5 BA53s left and about 12 B53 SC sets. We also have 2 B53 maintenance stands and 3-4 B53 bolsters. We will need a bolster or maintenance stand for each B53 SC set in order to build a B53 bomb display. The BA53s all are on bolsters already. A BA53 has been delivered to PIMA, the Air Force Museum, the Lone Star Flight Museum and the Grissom AFB Museum. We have enough BA53s at KAFB to give one to the SAC Museum, Chanute AFB museum, Kelly AFB Museum and the National Atomic Museum. There are B-58 Hustlers at Edwards AFB (decrepit, used as a target on the gunnery range) and at the 8th AF museum at Barksdale AFB (converted to a rocket test sled...does not look like a B-58 any more. I don't expect to support these last two. I'm waiting to hear from each of the above museums except Kelly AFB. I don't know how to get a hold of them yet, but I'm working on it.
From Sandia Labs storage and from the NAM storage we have two MK7s several H12's and B61 maintenance stands. Many items still remain to be surveyed to insure that they can be made available for display. Also, lots of old test equipment is coming as various organizations clean out their storage areas and we funnel the items through all the orgs in DOE that may want them. The museum is last in the pecking order.
Be aware that as the NAM is (or will) be the primary owner of all these items they have first choice of the items and in the case of a one-of-a kind item it will probably be retained by the museum and not loaned out. Each item will be judged on it's own merits by the museum before any lending action is taken.
Other activities are in the early stages of development which will also affect the Navy and Army. I have already contacted the Navy Nuclear Weapons Association and explained our project and invited them to join us to support the Navy Museums. They seem to be interested. I expect to be talking to the Army representatives this week. I'll keep you posted.
Currently on the front burner is support for the Castle AFB Museum and we are getting ready to send out a shipment to them. Also, we are at the same stage with the PIMA museum. The SAC museum is coming on line and I hope to be able to finalize some actions with them in the near future.
