Charles Frederick Freese was born August 16, 1953 in Providence, RI to Frederick and Mary Freese. He grew up in Warwick, RI along with two brothers and two sisters. He graduated in 1971 from Warwick Vets Memorial High School and went on to enlist in the Air Force in February 1973.
His first assignment was to the Philippines, and was next assigned to Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM, where he met his future wife, Nadine. They were married on August 28, 1976 and spent two years on Guam where they had their oldest child, Thomas. They returned to Kirtland and had their youngest child, Catherine. Charlie went on to spend 25 years in the Air Force, retiring on August 1, 1997 as a SMSgt.
On December 31, 1996, Charlie was diagnosed with congestive heart failure on, but remained productive over the next ten years. On February 26, 2007, he received a heart transplant. On January 20, 2009, Charlie was admitted to the hospital with respiratory distress. He continued to have ups and downs over the next several months and passed away on September 17, 2009. His wife, Nadine, his son Thomas, daughter-in-law, Kenna, grandsons, Matthias and Kael, and daughter, Catherine, survive him. His siblings, Florence, Carleton, George and Mabel, also survive him.
