On May 10th, 2008, God, out of his tender mercy, called Richard Alan “Dick” Roberts Sr. home.
Dick was born March 23rd, 1936, in Belle, WV. He grew up in Charleston, WV, and joined the Air Force in 1956. He retired in 1977 as a SMSGT in Minot, ND, where he met and married his wife, Vicky, on June 5th, 1986. They moved to Maryland in 1996 and enjoyed being near his family. He became a beekeeper and was able to pursue his passion for fishing. The year 2006 brought him to Kernersville, NC, where he spent the rest of his days in love with life, family, and his church, Sedge Garden UMC.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Dorcus Aretz, who lived in West Virginia, and Nancy Herring, who lived in Texas.
He leaves the following behind to cherish his memory: wife, Vicky; brother, James Roberts of West Virginia; children, Richard A. “Rick” Roberts of South Dakota, Nancy Roberts of Maryland, Rebecca Hazen of Massachusetts and Ronald “Joe” Roberts of North Carolina; also 8 grandchildren and much more family and friends.
A special Thank You to Hospice of Winston-Salem, NC, and to a special caregiver, Amy Bofenkamp. No memorial service in North Carolina is planned. His ashes will be interred in Spencer, WV, in the Roberts family cemetery on Memorial Day, May 26, 2008
