Hubert Gregory Stanton Jr., 82, of Litchfield Park, AZ, passed away August 27, 2011, at Hospice of Arizona. He was born June 16, 1929 in New York City, NY to Col. Hubert Gregory Stanton Sr. (USMA 1911) and Geraldine Stanton.
Hubert was part of Strategic Air Command as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force. He moved his family to Arizona in October of ’72, retired from the military to Lake Havasu and became a small business owner of a clothing store, Barkley’s House of Leather, with his wife Ginger. They then moved to Tempe where he attended ASU for a degree in accounting. When he retired from accounting he was working for John C. Lincoln Hospital in Payson.
Hubert was a member of Phi Gama Delta, the Military Officers Association of America, 3080th Aviation Depot Group, Nuclear Weapons Technicians Association and The Church at Litchfield Park.
He is survived by his daughter Debra of Phoenix, AZ, his sons Gregory of Centennial, CO and Michael of San Rafael, CA, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia “Ginger” Anne, his parents, and his grandparents William Stanton and Mary Pendergast.
Graveside services with full military honors will be presented Friday, September 2, 2011 at 10:30am at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ.
