Larry W. Stover, 74 of Jersey Shore, passed away Thursday evening, April 29, 2010 at Jersey Shore Hospital where he was a patient since Tuesday.

He was born Jan. 18, 1936 in Millheim, the son of the late Nelson & Mabel (Wance) Stover. He was a graduate of Penns Valley High School and a Summe Cum Laude graduate of the University of Maine at Portland-Gorham where he received a Bachelor's of Science.

Larry was married on June 18, 1960 to the former Joan E. Cooper; they celebrated 49 years of marriage together.

He retired from the Air Force in 1974 after 20 years as a master sergeant and later from Tetley Tea after 10 years. Larry served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a nuclear weapons technician.

Larry was a member of the Avis United Methodist Church, Jersey Shore Elks. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Sergeants Association.

Surviving are his wife; one son, John W. Stover of Lock Haven; a daughter, Shelley A. (Kyle) Nelson of Bastress; twin granddaughters, Sarah E. & Britany J.; grandson, Dakota W.G.; one brother, David Stover of Loganton; a sister, Shelvia Griffen of Centre County, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Avis United Methodist Church, 215 Prospect St., Avis, with Pastor Thomas Jones officiating.

The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

Interment will be private at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
