Lee A. Montoya, 86, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Odelia L Montoya; children Barbara Cofferen and husband, Michael, Lydia Lopez and husband, Ricardo Valdez, Albert Lee Montoya and wife, Michele, and Robert Montoya and wife, Ana; grandchildren Christine Simoes and husband, Cameron, Michelle Blackmon and husband, Cody, Angelo Lee Lopez, and Christopher Lopez; great-grandchildren, Chase Simoes and Kylee Blackmon; sisters, Arabella Montoya and Emily Nye; and brother Luis A Montoya and wife, Rosie; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandchild, the unborn child of Robert and Ana Montoya.
Lee graduated from Menaul High School, the University of Albuquerque and received his Master's Degree in Business at Highlands University. He served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Montoya retired after 31 and one-half years of service from the US Air Force. After he retired, he delivered papers for the Albuquerque Journal for 25 years. Along with his wife, Lee was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was an avid fisherman, sportsman and gardener.
